How to read the antibody reviews

Use catalog details, band images and experimental conditions to find antibody experience relevant to your work.

Check experimental context first

Identify the brand, catalog number, sample and WB application, then check tested dilution, gel, electrophoresis, transfer, blocking and secondary-antibody conditions. Tested conditions are not manufacturer-recommended ranges.

Experience and protein background

Observations describe the bands I saw and my experience in that experiment. Protein background introduces the protein’s common functions and processing forms. Words such as “possible” describe interpretations based on band position and treatment-related changes.

Images and lane assignments

Click an experimental image to enlarge it or open the full-size version. The lane assignments below the image help compare stimulation and inhibitor treatments. Missing assignments are labeled “Not recorded”.

Watch the loading units

μL describes volume, while μg describes protein mass. Keep the distinction in mind when comparing experiments. The cIAP1 and XIAP experiments shown here used a loading volume of 15 μL.

Applying the experience

The same antibody can behave differently with another sample, gel concentration or exposure. These images and experiences provide a reference for your experiments. If your results differ, you are welcome to discuss them in the comments.
